Anime Overseer Tier List: Units I’d Prioritize If I Were Starting Over

[EARLY ACCESS] Anime Overseer Tier List
Last Updated: July 11, 2026  ·  Reading time: ~15 min

When a new Roblox anime tower defense game launches, the first thing most players do is chase the rarest units. It’s an understandable strategy, higher rarity usually means better stats, stronger abilities, and a better chance of dominating late-game content.

Anime Overseer looks like it follows that formula at first glance.

Then you actually start playing.

After spending time comparing units across Story Mode, Infinity Express, Raids, and Nightmare Mode, one thing becomes obvious: rarity alone doesn’t determine whether a unit is worth investing in.

Some Mythics remain valuable from the moment you obtain them until the hardest content in the game, while others quickly become expensive disappointments once you reach the later stages.

That becomes even more important because resources are limited.

Evolution materials take time to farm. Trait rerolls aren’t cheap. Gems disappear faster than most players expect. Every decision about which unit to build first has a real impact on how quickly you progress.

I’ve seen plenty of new players make the same mistake, pouring thousands of Gems into a flashy character simply because it’s popular, only to realize later that another unit would have offered more consistent value across every game mode.

That’s exactly why this tier list exists.

Instead of ranking units purely by damage numbers or rarity, I’ve looked at the bigger picture:

  • Damage output
  • Boss-killing potential
  • Crowd control
  • Team utility
  • Evolution requirements
  • Trait synergy
  • Value for resources invested
  • Performance in Nightmare Mode
  • Long-term usefulness

Some units are incredible because they deal absurd damage.

Others barely appear on the damage chart but quietly make your entire team significantly stronger.

Both deserve recognition.

How I Ranked Every Unit

One thing I dislike about many tier lists is that they only answer one question:

“Which unit deals the most damage?”

That isn’t enough.

Anime Overseer rewards balanced teams much more than stacking five glass-cannon DPS characters together.

For example, one powerful support can increase your overall damage far more than replacing another average DPS with a stronger one. Likewise, a durable frontline tank can buy enough time for your carries to eliminate difficult waves before enemies overwhelm your base.

Because of that, every unit in this list was judged using several factors rather than one simple statistic.

Damage

This is still the biggest factor.

A unit capable of deleting bosses or wiping out enemy waves naturally deserves a higher ranking than one that struggles against regular mobs.

However, raw DPS isn’t everything.

Utility

Some characters provide buffs.

Others slow enemies.

Some stun.

Others reduce enemy defenses.

These abilities often become even more valuable than additional damage once you begin tackling Nightmare Mode.

Evolution Cost

Not every powerful unit is easy to build.

Some require lengthy questlines.

Others need extremely rare evolution materials.

A unit that demands dozens of hours of farming should offer a meaningful payoff.

Fortunately, most of the S-Tier characters absolutely do.

Trait Synergy

Traits can completely transform how a character performs.

A mediocre unit with the perfect trait sometimes feels stronger than a high-ranking character running an average setup.

Throughout this guide, I’ll also mention which traits seem to work best for each unit.

Long-Term Value

One question stayed in my mind while ranking every character:

If I started a brand-new account today, would I still invest in this unit?

If the answer was yes, it ranked highly.

If the answer was “only for the early game,” it dropped several positions.

Anime Overseer Tier List

S-Tier Units – The Characters That Define the Current Meta

These are the units I’d recommend building before almost anything else.

Every single one offers incredible value and remains useful deep into the endgame.

Jogo Maximum: Meteor

If someone asked me which unit surprised the community the most, Jogo would probably be my answer.

At first glance, he doesn’t seem like the obvious choice to become one of the strongest damage dealers in Anime Overseer.

Then you evolve him.

Everything changes.

His burn damage is exceptional, especially during longer boss fights where damage-over-time effects have enough time to stack. Instead of relying entirely on huge burst attacks, Jogo continuously melts enemy health bars while your other units pile on additional damage.

That’s exactly why he’s become such a popular pick for Nightmare Mode.

Bosses survive long enough for his burn effects to generate enormous value.

Why Jogo Is So Good

His biggest strength is consistency.

Some damage dealers feel incredible against regular enemies but struggle during boss encounters.

Others dominate bosses while slowing down wave clear.

Jogo performs well in both situations.

Whether you’re clearing Story chapters or tackling difficult raids, he almost always contributes meaningful damage.

Best Trait

If you’re lucky enough to roll one of these, keep it.

  • Overseer
  • Aetheric

Both dramatically improve his overall effectiveness and allow him to scale much better into late-game content.

Is He Worth Evolving?

Absolutely.

The Molten Curse Core isn’t free to obtain, but compared to several other evolution paths in Anime Overseer, the investment feels completely justified.

If you’re choosing between evolving Jogo or spending those resources elsewhere, I’d prioritize Jogo almost every time.

Verdict

S-Tier

One of the safest long-term investments currently available.

Michael Progenitor

Hybrid units usually make me skeptical.

Many games advertise characters as both tanks and damage dealers, but they rarely excel at either role.

Michael Progenitor breaks that trend.

Instead of sacrificing offense for survivability, he somehow manages to offer both.

His ability to stay alive longer than most frontline units means he continues contributing damage throughout extended fights while protecting your weaker carries positioned behind him.

Once fully evolved, Michael becomes incredibly difficult to replace.

Why He Stands Out

The biggest difference between Michael and most tanks is that placing him never feels like sacrificing damage.

Normally, adding another defensive character slows your overall wave clear.

Michael doesn’t create that problem.

His summon mechanics and extra survivability allow him to pressure enemies while acting as a durable frontline.

That’s an incredibly valuable combination.

Best Trait

Boundless.

If you’re fortunate enough to roll Boundless, Michael immediately becomes one of the strongest units in the game.

The increase in overall performance is obvious during difficult raids.

Evolution Difficulty

This is where things become more challenging.

Unlocking his Awakened Primordial Demon Cell requires completing a special questline rather than simply farming one evolution material.

It’s time-consuming.

But unlike some lengthy grinds, this one genuinely feels rewarding.

Verdict

S-Tier

One of the few units capable of carrying both offensive and defensive responsibilities.

Brolu LSSJ

There’s no avoiding the grind.

Anyone planning to build Brolu quickly discovers that obtaining his evolution materials isn’t exactly a short afternoon project.

His seven-part questline demands commitment.

Thankfully, the reward completely lives up to the effort.

Once evolved, Brolu becomes one of the most explosive damage dealers currently available.

Large enemy waves disappear before they have time to threaten your defenses, while bosses lose health at an almost ridiculous pace.

Why Players Love Him

Simple.

Damage.

Lots of it.

Every difficult piece of content eventually comes down to eliminating enemies before they overwhelm your base.

Brolu excels at exactly that.

His attacks feel impactful throughout every stage of the game.

Best Trait

Boundless once again proves to be the strongest option.

The additional offensive scaling pushes Brolu into another level entirely.

Should New Players Chase Him?

Eventually, yes.

Immediately?

Probably not.

The questline requires enough time that newer players may benefit more from strengthening easier-to-build units first before committing to Brolu’s evolution.

Once your account reaches that stage, however, he’s absolutely worth prioritizing.

Verdict

S-Tier

Arguably one of the highest damage dealers in Anime Overseer.

Freezer Planet Conqueror

Damage dealers usually receive most of the attention.

Support units rarely become the stars of YouTube thumbnails or community discussions.

Freezer Planet Conqueror deserves far more recognition.

He demonstrates something experienced tower defense players already understand:

Increasing everyone else’s damage can sometimes be stronger than adding another DPS unit.

Instead of chasing personal damage numbers, Freezer focuses on making your entire team stronger.

That alone gives him incredible value.

Why Debuffs Matter

As content becomes more difficult, enemies survive longer.

Longer fights create more opportunities for debuffs to generate value.

Every percentage reduction applied to enemy defenses improves the performance of every DPS unit you’ve placed.

That’s why Freezer scales so well into Nightmare Mode.

Best Trait

Echo remains the strongest overall choice.

Its synergy with his support-focused kit feels natural and consistently useful.

Evolution Investment

Completing the Inactive Energy Core quest isn’t especially difficult compared to several other S-Tier units.

That makes Freezer one of the more accessible late-game support characters.

Verdict

S-Tier

Possibly the best support investment available for players focused on endgame progression.

Akoza Destructive Death

Some units specialize in surviving.

Others specialize in dealing damage.

Akoza somehow manages to excel at both.

His combination of dodge mechanics, lifesteal, mobility, and consistent DPS creates one of the most complete frontline characters in the game.

Whether you’re fighting regular enemy waves or powerful raid bosses, Akoza almost never feels out of place.

Strengths

His greatest advantage is flexibility.

Unlike highly specialized characters that only shine in one situation, Akoza performs well across nearly every game mode.

Story Mode.

Nightmare.

Raids.

Infinity Express.

He’s reliable everywhere.

That versatility alone makes him one of the easiest S-Tier recommendations.

Best Trait

Boundless remains the clear winner.

The additional scaling complements both his survivability and offensive output.

Is He Worth Farming?

Without hesitation.

Even though obtaining the Upper Rank Blood Crystal requires some effort, the finished unit easily justifies the investment.

He’s the type of character that continues paying dividends long after you’ve completed his evolution.

Verdict

S-Tier

One of the most balanced and dependable units currently available.

Pain Tendo

If pure damage wins Story Mode…

Crowd control wins Nightmare Mode.

That’s exactly why Pain Tendo finishes my S-Tier rankings.

At first, stun units don’t seem particularly exciting.

They rarely top damage charts.

They don’t produce flashy critical hits.

They simply stop enemies from moving.

The deeper you progress into Anime Overseer, the more valuable that becomes.

Properly placed, Pain Tendo can freeze dangerous enemy pushes long enough for your carries to erase entire waves before they ever threaten your base.

It’s one of those abilities that becomes more impressive the harder the content gets.

Instead of replacing your damage dealers, Pain Tendo makes every damage dealer on your team significantly more effective.

That’s the definition of an elite support unit.

Verdict: S-Tier.

Many of these units are only one step below the very best. In fact, if you don’t have a full S-Tier roster, several A-Tier units can comfortably carry your account through Story Mode, Raids, and even Nightmare Mode with the right traits and team composition.

The difference between S-Tier and A-Tier isn’t that one group is good while the other is bad. It’s simply that S-Tier units either scale better into the late game or provide something unique that few other characters can match.

Let’s jump into the rest of the rankings.

A-Tier Units – Strong Investments That Rarely Disappoint

Chazo Supernova

If you’re looking for consistent damage-over-time, Chazo is one of the first names that deserves attention.

Unlike burst-focused units that rely on huge individual attacks, Chazo slowly chips away at enemies while your other units continue attacking. Against bosses with massive health pools, that damage adds up surprisingly quickly.

One thing I like about Chazo is that he doesn’t need to be the star of your team. He fits naturally alongside stronger DPS characters by adding extra pressure rather than competing with them.

The biggest downside is his evolution cost.

Obtaining the Cursed Womb Vessel takes time, and for newer players, there are often better first investments.

Best Trait

  • Aetheric
  • Overseer

Best Game Modes

  • Boss fights
  • Nightmare Mode
  • Raids

Verdict

A-Tier

Fantastic secondary damage dealer, but slightly overshadowed by Jogo.

Nayoma 24 FPS

Some units dominate because they hit incredibly hard.

Nayoma dominates because he barely stops attacking.

Attack speed is one of the most underrated stats in Anime Overseer, especially during the early and mid game when clearing waves efficiently matters more than huge burst damage.

That’s exactly where Nayoma shines.

He’s fast.

Reliable.

Easy to fit into almost any lineup.

Unlike many early-game carries, Nayoma doesn’t become obsolete once stronger Mythics appear. Even later in the game, his speed allows him to remain useful in several game modes.

Best Trait

Overclocked

Best For

  • Story progression
  • Farming
  • Early Nightmare
  • Infinity Express

Verdict

A-Tier

One of the safest investments for newer players.

Rangoka Ablaze

If I had to describe Rangoka in one word, it would be consistent.

He doesn’t completely dominate any individual category.

Instead, he performs well almost everywhere.

His attack speed feels smooth.

His damage remains respectable.

His evolution requirements are reasonable.

There aren’t many situations where Rangoka feels like a poor choice.

That level of reliability is exactly why he earns an A-Tier ranking.

Best Trait

Aetheric

Best Game Modes

  • Story
  • Raids
  • Group content

Verdict

A-Tier

Balanced, dependable, and easy to recommend.

Nazuka Exploding Blood

Finding durable tanks isn’t difficult.

Finding tanks that also deal meaningful damage is much harder.

Nazuka manages both.

Instead of acting as little more than a wall, he actively contributes to wave clear while protecting your stronger damage dealers.

That makes him particularly valuable for players who don’t yet own Michael Progenitor.

Best Trait

Boundless

Evolution Material

Severed Bamboo Muzzle

Verdict

A-Tier

Excellent frontline option with surprisingly strong offensive value.

Enmou Blissful Dream

Support units often determine whether difficult runs succeed or fail.

Enmou isn’t quite as game-changing as Pain Tendo, but he’s still an incredibly useful addition to many teams.

His buffs help your carries perform more consistently, especially during longer stages where sustained value matters more than short bursts of damage.

Best Traits

  • Echo
  • Marksman

Verdict

A-Tier

A dependable support that fits comfortably into most team compositions.

Friera (Evolved)

Friera might have the most interesting journey of any unit on this list.

At first, the slower attack speed makes him feel underwhelming.

Then you fix that weakness.

Once paired with an Overclocked trait, Friera transforms into an impressive boss killer capable of competing with several higher-ranked characters.

His damage ceiling is excellent.

His only real limitation is speed.

Evolution Requirement

Great Mage Staff

Verdict

A-Tier

Very close to S-Tier but held back by slower attacks.

B-Tier Units – Useful Early, Replace Later

These units absolutely have value.

The problem isn’t that they’re weak.

The problem is that stronger alternatives eventually become available.

Obeto Kamui

Almost everyone who starts Anime Overseer ends up using Obeto for a while.

His speed makes early Story Mode significantly easier.

Unfortunately, the further you progress, the more noticeable his lower damage becomes.

He performs his role well during the opening chapters.

Just don’t overinvest.

Best Trait

Overclocked

Verdict

B-Tier

Excellent beginner carry.

Temporary long-term investment.

Muki Singularity

Muki provides decent support utility but struggles to keep pace with stronger late-game options.

If your roster is limited, he’s perfectly serviceable.

Once your account expands, however, replacing him becomes an easy decision.

Best Traits

Echo

Marksman

Verdict

B-Tier

Useful early support with limited scaling.

Dengen Rhapsody

Few units attack as quickly as Dengen.

Watching him constantly swing at enemies is genuinely satisfying.

Unfortunately, impressive attack speed doesn’t always translate into top-tier damage.

His lower DPS keeps him from competing with stronger carries despite his excellent animations.

Proper placement helps, but only to a point.

Best Trait

Verdict

B-Tier

Fun to play.

Outclassed later.

C-Tier Units – Build Your First Team and Move On

These units aren’t terrible.

They’re simply stepping stones.

Sonic Ninja

A solid beginner DPS.

Perfectly capable of helping new players clear early content before stronger units arrive.

Verdict

C-Tier

Kotaro

Reliable during the first few chapters.

Rarely used afterwards.

Verdict

C-Tier

Hawk

Another decent starter character.

Helpful early.

Forgettable later.

Verdict

C-Tier

If I Had to Start a New Account Today

One question I always ask myself after making a tier list is:

“Would I still follow this advice if I lost my account tomorrow?”

The answer is yes.

Here’s the progression I’d personally follow.

Step 1

Push through Story Mode using whatever beginner units you obtain.

Don’t spend every Gem immediately.

Patience pays off.

Step 2

Prioritize obtaining one reliable carry.

Jogo would probably be my first choice because of how well he performs in almost every game mode.

Step 3

Build a balanced roster.

Too many players focus entirely on DPS.

Instead, aim for:

  • One primary damage dealer
  • One secondary DPS
  • One tank
  • One support
  • One crowd-control unit

Balanced teams almost always outperform teams made entirely of damage dealers.

Step 4

Begin farming evolution materials instead of constantly summoning.

A properly evolved unit often contributes more than two unevolved Mythics.

Step 5

Save Trait Discs.

Rolling good traits on weak characters usually isn’t worth it.

Use them on units you’ll still be using weeks later.

Common Mistakes New Players Make

Investing Too Early

Getting your first Mythic feels exciting.

That doesn’t automatically make it your forever unit.

Take time to understand how it performs before spending valuable evolution materials.

Ignoring Support Characters

Support units rarely produce flashy numbers.

That doesn’t mean they’re weak.

Pain Tendo and Freezer Planet Conqueror prove that utility often wins difficult content.

Chasing Damage Alone

Higher DPS looks impressive.

Winning stages is even better.

Survivability, crowd control, and debuffs matter far more than many players realize.

Wasting Traits

Don’t reroll endlessly on average characters.

Save premium traits for units you’ll keep using deep into the endgame.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which unit should I evolve first?

Jogo Maximum: Meteor is one of the safest first investments thanks to his excellent damage and long-term usefulness.

Which support unit is the best?

Pain Tendo remains the strongest crowd-control support, while Freezer Planet Conqueror offers exceptional debuff utility.

Is Brolu worth the grind?

Absolutely.

His evolution takes time, but the payoff easily justifies the effort.

Which unit is best for beginners?

Nayoma 24 FPS offers one of the smoothest early-game experiences and remains useful much longer than many starter units.

Which tank should I prioritize?

Michael Progenitor is the strongest overall option.

Nazuka Exploding Blood is an excellent alternative until then.

Anime Overseer is still in its Early Access phase, and that means the meta is almost guaranteed to evolve. New units will arrive, existing characters may receive balance changes, and future updates could introduce entirely new mechanics that shift the rankings.

Even so, some things are already becoming clear.

The strongest teams aren’t built around rarity alone, they’re built around synergy. A well-rounded lineup with reliable damage, solid support, and crowd control will almost always outperform a collection of random high-rarity units.

If you’re planning where to spend your Gems and evolution materials, focus on characters that continue delivering value throughout the game rather than those that only shine during the early chapters.

For now, Jogo Maximum: Meteor, Michael Progenitor, Brolu LSSJ, Freezer Planet Conqueror, Akoza Destructive Death, and Pain Tendo remain the units I’d recommend prioritizing. They’re powerful, versatile, and capable of carrying teams through some of the toughest content Anime Overseer currently has to offer.

As the game continues to grow, I’ll be keeping an eye on balance updates, new evolutions, and fresh additions to the roster. There’s every chance the meta will look different in a few months—but until then, this is the tier list I’d trust if I were building an account from scratch today.
